Truck Assist & Isuzu Australia celebrate 20 years of partnership on the road
4min read
For two decades, Truck Assist and Isuzu Trucks have worked together with a shared objective: supporting the people and businesses that depend on their trucks every day.
What began as a dedicated heavy vehicle roadside assistance arrangement has evolved into a broader partnership built on industry expertise, strong relationships and a commitment to customer service.
While the formal roadside assistance partnership is celebrating its 20-year anniversary, the connection between the two organisations goes back even further. Both were already well established in Australia’s transport industry when Isuzu approached Truck Assist to help develop a tailored roadside assistance program.
Truck Assist National Development Manager Craig Carmody said the partnership has always centred on understanding the potential impact of having a truck off the road can have on the person and business behind them.
“The focus is very much on the customers, rather than the trucks,” Craig said.
“It’s about extending the relationship and providing superior customer service.”
That customer-first approach has helped shape the partnership over the past 20 years, with both organisations focused on giving Isuzu customers access to specialist support when they need it.
Two national networks working together
A key strength of the partnership is the combination of Isuzu’s extensive dealer network and Truck Assist’s nationwide roadside capability. Truck Assist’s network was developed through NTI Assist, which commenced in 2002 and established relationships with specialist towing and heavy vehicle recovery operators across Australia.
“We recognised the expertise of the heavy towing industry, partnered with those operators and created a very strong and capable national network,” Craig said.
Those relationships give Truck Assist access to people who understand the specialist requirements of trucks and heavy vehicles. By working closely with Isuzu dealers, Truck Assist can help connect customers with the appropriate expertise, equipment and support when roadside assistance is required.
For operators, that coordinated approach is particularly important when a vehicle is away from its usual depot or operating across regional and interstate routes.
A partnership that continues to grow
Over the years, Truck Assist and Isuzu have expanded their relationship well beyond the roadside assistance program. Truck Assist has participated in Isuzu dealer conferences, contributed to strategic initiatives and supported awards recognising excellence in dealer performance and customer service. The organisations have also collaborated on truck restoration projects and continue to explore opportunities to strengthen the experience offered to Isuzu customers.
“We feel privileged to be regarded as a true partner, and we work hard to earn that trust every day,” Craig said.
“This relationship goes beyond a traditional service provider arrangement. It’s a genuine partnership with Isuzu.”
That partnership is underpinned by a shared understanding of how important vehicle availability is to a transport business. A truck off the road can affect deliveries, customer commitments, productivity and income, making responsive roadside support a valuable part of the ownership journey.
“It’s about minimising downtime, maximising vehicle uptime and delivering exceptional customer service,” Craig said.
“That’s what Isuzu Assist and our partnership are all about: keeping customers on the road, reducing disruptions and providing an outstanding customer experience.”
Supporting customers throughout truck ownership
Brett Stewart, Head of Aftersales, Isuzu Australia, echoes Craig’s sentiments. For Isuzu Australia, Truck Assist’s specialist roadside capability forms an important part of the wider Isuzu Care customer support offering.
“Our long-standing partnership with NTI [and Truck Assist] is integral to Isuzu Care, combining Isuzu’s dealer network with Truck Assist’s 24/7 nationwide roadside capability to deliver responsive support and a strong customer experience,” Brett said.
“Isuzu Care is about supporting customers throughout their ownership journey, and for 20 years Truck Assist has been playing a critical role in that promise, providing customer uptime support and peace of mind.”
As Truck Assist and Isuzu mark two decades of working together, the anniversary recognises more than the longevity of the relationship. It reflects the trust developed between two organisations with deep connections to Australia’s transport industry and a shared commitment to the customers who keep it moving.
